New to Denmark - New to Frederiksberg

If you are new to Frederiksberg or have moved here within the past five years, Job Centre Frederiksberg can offer you assistance in order to enter the Danish job market.

Content

The help you can get depends on your residence permit. Depending on whether you have come to work, study, as a refugee or by family reunification, you can get different types of assistance from Job Centre Frederiksberg.

We might be able to help you with:
    -    Free Danish language courses (if you are eligible)
    -    Measures promoting employment, e.g. wage subsidy and company internships
    -    Introduction to the Danish job market

Refugees receive a program under the Integration Act, which consists of Danish language courses in a language school and an intensive job-oriented effort.

The effort can include Company internships, Jobs with wage subsidy, Integration Basic Education (IGU), and possibly short qualification courses, see more here.

As a Refugee you can receive Social assistance until you can support yourself.

When the Danish Immigration Service assigns you to Frederiksberg Municipality, the municipality will provide temporary housing for you. You are also permitted to find alternative housing independently.

If you wish to move to a municipality other than Frederiksberg, you must apply to that municipality to assume responsibility for your integration program before moving. If the municipality denies your request and you choose to move regardless, you risk losing your benefits if you become unemployed.

If you live in another municipality and wish to move to Frederiksberg, you must apply to the Center for Integration to assume responsibility for your program before moving. If the municipality denies your request and you choose to move regardless, you risk losing your right to social assistance (kontanthjælp) in the event of unemployment. The municipality will not assist you in finding housing.

Family reunified individuals receive a program under the Integration Act, which consists of Danish language courses and guidance on jobs and education.

If you wish, you can receive a job-oriented effort, including Company internships, Jobs with wage subsidy, Integration Basic Education (IGU), and possibly short qualification courses, see more here.

Most family reunified individuals cannot receive Social assistance without it potentially effecting their chances of keeping or renewing their residence permit as family reunificated. If you have questions about this, contact the Danish Immigration Service (Udlændingestyrelsen).

Other newly arrived foreigners are offered a program with Danish language courses and guidance from a job consultant on how the Danish job market works and more specific guidance about job search in Denmark.

If your residence permit is not specifically for work or education, you might be eligible to receive help finding a job, including Company internships, Jobs with wage subsidy, and possibly courses, see more here.
